Sorasass
A Breathtaking View of Trento
Near Trento the Soprasasso stands majestically, also known as Sorasass in the local dialect. This mountain, although familiar by name, is often overlooked by visitors. However, it offers a unique experience: an evocative circular route that combines natural landscapes and a rich cultural history.
An excellent starting point for this excursion is the Lamar Lakes.
After a bit of walking, you reach the highest point of the route. Here, at an altitude of 790 metres, a breathtaking backdrop opens up: Trento stands out before your eyes, with the Adige river meandering alongside the Doss Trento, and in the background, the majestic Marzola and Vigolana mountains. Following the sign for the “Pontesel”, you find yourself on a small artificial terrace which offers a privileged view of the city.
This route offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in history. Along the way, you come across evidence of the First World War, such as the aerial observatory over the Adige valley, the trenches and the “stoi” used as shelters and ammunition depots. An unmissable point of interest is the Austro-Hungarian riflery, a restored gallery that offers a unique insight into the past.
The rifle room is a fascinating structure, approximately 40 meters long, equipped with eleven rifle positions and shelves for ammunition. An adventure in this historic place will undoubtedly be unforgettable!
